Doctor On Call, an Albuquerque Urgent Care, was established in November of 2004 by John R. Vigil, MD. Dr Vigil is a board certified general surgeon who also is a practicing Urgent Care & emergency room physician.

Doctor On Call is an innovative and unique general medical practice established with the goal of providing personal physician services and comprehensive health care at the patient's convenience, at a reasonable cost and in an environment that is familiar and comfortable to the patient such as their home, hotel room, or place of employment (We may also see patients in our office with no appointment necessary).

Examples of services that are offered include acute and urgent medical care for children and adults, general medical care for home bound individuals, vaccinations, physical examinations for school, employment, or life insurance, chronic wound and ulcer care, including diabetic foot care, individualized smoking cessation treatment, and a variety of ancillary health care including, soft tissue and spine injury rehabilitation, as well as physical therapy.

Doctor On Call also provides medical support services to area businesses such as work site visits for employees, health related seminars and presentations, drug testing, and employment physicals.

Doctor On Call also provides medical coverage for special events and entertainment venues such as concerts, production companies, and etc.

Doctor On Call is staffed by fully trained and experienced health professionals including physicians, physician assistants, certified nurse practitioners, and physical therapists.

Doctor On Call is not meant to be a substitute for a primary care physician nor as a substitute for the emergency room in true medical emergencies. Rather, our services may be used as a bridge to those services in the event of any acute or urgent, non-life threatening condition when an appointment with the primary care physician is not readily available, if the patient has limited acccess to transportation for health care, if the patient is homebound or if the patient does not wish to or cannot visit an ER.

Our emphasis at Doctor On Call is to provide our clients with high quality professional health care at a very reasonable cost in a courteous and compassionate manner--no matter the time-- in an environment and at a time that is convenient for the client. In short, our aim is to "put the 'Care' back in Health Care" while always remembering that "we are there for the patient and that 'they' are not there for us"!
